Celebrate Our Book Series #3: Craft a Tree or a Star!
Join us making some fun holiday crafts! Today, we will be crafting 1) A Christmas Tree and 2) A Christmas Star. Luckily, it is super easy to do both crafts with the same list of items! Additionally, these crafts are as cheap as they come! Most of these items can be found at your local dollar store.
These crafts are inspired by our favorite talking tree, Evy the Evergreen, and his imperfectly perfect top star from our new children's Christmas book, Evy the Evergreen Finds His Shine. Here’s what you’ll need to make these ornaments:
Popsicle sticks (if not colored, markers or paint needed)
Card stock or construction paper
A piece of twine, ribbon, or pipe cleaner
Hot glue
Scissors
As for decorations, use whatever you have on hand! We suggest:
Tiny colorful pom poms
Pipe cleaners
Glitter (if you can face the mess!)
Cotton Balls
(Jingle) Bells
Rhinestones or other buttons
Popsicle Stick Christmas Tree
Step 1: Cut off one end of 2 of the 3 popsicle sticks & create a string by twisting piece of a pipe cleaner!
Step 2: Glue the three popsicle sticks together to form a triangle (Christmas tree) & glue the pipe cleaner string to the back of the treetop! Next, draw out a star and cut it out!
Step 3: Glue the star on the front of the treetop. Start measuring and cutting pipe cleaners for garland if you'd like! "Make it like Evy" Tip: It's alright if your star isn't perfect! Evy the Evergreen teaches us that we are perfect just the way we are!
Step 4: Decorate by gluing on different craft items you have on hand (glitter, pipe cleaners, pom poms, etc.). Rip cotton balls for snow! Cut out a square to glue on the bottom back of the tree to make its trunk.
Step 5: Add Glitter (feel free to skip this part, we know how it goes)! Hang your new ornament on your tree! 🌲
Popsicle Stick Star
Step 1: Gather 5 popsicle sticks!
Step 2: Glue them all together to shape a star.
Step 3: Decorate by gluing on different craft items! Cut and glue a twisted pipe cleaner on the back of the top of the star to make it an ornament!
Step 4: Hang your new personalized ornament on your tree! 🌲
